墨梅 Vintage Chinese Painting No 38

SGD $2,800 Dimensions including scroll: about 74.5cm x 180cm Both are the same but may appear slightly different due to the lighting conditions. 我家洗硯池頭樹，朵朵花開淡墨痕。不要人誇好顏色，只留清氣滿乾坤。《墨梅》是一首题画诗。墨梅就是水墨画的梅花。诗人赞美墨梅不求人夸,只愿给人间留下清香的美德,实际上是借梅自喻,表达自己对人生的态度以及不向世俗献媚的高尚情操。开头两句“我家洗砚池头树,朵朵花开淡墨痕”直接描写墨梅。画中小池边的梅树,花朵盛开,朵朵梅花都是用淡淡的墨水点染而成的。“洗砚池”,化用王羲之“临池学书,池水尽黑”的典故。诗人与晋代书法家王羲之同姓,故说“我家”。三、四两句盛赞墨梅的高风亮节。它由淡墨画成,外表虽然并不娇妍,但具有神清骨秀、高洁端庄、幽独超逸的内在气质;它不想用鲜艳的色彩去吸引人,讨好人,求得人们的夸奖,只愿散发一股清香,让它留在天地之间。这两句正是诗人的自我写照。王冕自幼家贫,白天放牛,晚上到佛寺长明灯下苦读,终于学得满腹经纶,而且能诗善画,多才多艺。但他屡试不第,又不愿巴结权贵,于是绝意功名利禄,归隐浙东九里山,作画易米为生。“不要人夸颜色好,只留清气满乾坤”两句,表现了诗人鄙薄流俗,独善其身,孤芳自赏的品格。 Source: http://www.23yy.com/1930000/1925791.shtml

Wan Wing Sum 温永琛 Chinese Painting (including frame: 72 x 14cm) Painting No 2

There are a lot of comings and goings once this painting was listed. Offers came in fast and furious. Many thanks to an anonymous Samaritan who timely informed that the painting price listed on 13 Oct 2015, Tue, at SGD $50 was wide of the mark. This painting is one of the rare masterpiece by the late Chinese businessman, artist and calligrapher Wan Wing Sum温永琛 (1922-1995). Wan’s works are gaining popularity and traction in mainland China. The Samaritan stated that Wan’s 扶摇直上 (104×57cm) was auctioned at RMB 89,600 at Guan Zhou China, 2011. Wan’s another 1979兰竹图 (82×135cm) was auctioned at RMB 224,000 at Beijing China, 2010. The Samaritan opined that the masterpiece has the potential to grow in value as Wan was widely acclaimed in various esoteric art forms albeit not formally trained.
